Both
visitors and residents can participate in and benefit from the wide
range of activities and sports that the town and area have to offer.

For those who just want to do their own thing you can choose

local churches, retail therapy in the High Street, or just sitting on
the promenade and taking in the wonderful views, that on a good day
will take you from Portland Bill in Dorset to Berry Head west of Brixham.

Ideal
for Cyclists
The multitude of country lanes in East Devon offer a quiet retreat from
busy roads for the keen cyclist. Although we cannot give you a hill-free
ride, we can guarantee that once you have made the top of the hill you
will be rewarded by superb views from the field gate that you lean against.
There is a cycle track, with several picnic spots along its way, that
extends for about 2 miles from the edge of Budleigh on to Littleham
and Phear Park, Exmouth, along the course of the old railway. Combine
this with the lane from Littleham or roads through the leafy residential
part of Exmouth and you can cycle from Budleigh to Exmouth seafront,
with all its accompanying attractions. (Cycles can be hired from Budleigh
Bikes, tel. 01395 442354.)
Riding
There are 4 Riding Schools within 12 miles of Budleigh. The nearest
is just on the edge of the town at Dalditch, this is very comprehensive,
offering tuition and facilities all year round. The others are at Sidmouth,
Farway [Honiton] and Seaton.
Sports
& Games
Sports and games clubs cater for the devotees of badminton, cricket,
croquet, golf, tennis, bowls [indoor and outdoor], bridge and others.
Come
and enjoy the cricket in beautiful surroundings at the Budleigh Salterton

Lane offer a range of Games - much appreciated by residents and

bowls, indoor from October to mid April, outdoor mid April to the end
of September. Two floodlit all year tennis courts and three lawn courts.
For the more mentally agile, bridge is played all year. Every July they
organise a bowls tournament that has become a popular event in the towns
calendar.
